A Google-nak közel egymillió szervere van. A Yahoonak körülbelül 13 ezer fős személyzete. Nekünk jelenleg 679 szerverünk és 95 alkalmazottunk van.

A Wikipédia az 5. legolvasottabb oldal az interneten, havonta 470 millió ember sokmilliárd oldalt néz meg rajta.

A kapitalizmussal nincs semmi baj. A reklám sem az ördögtől való. De a Wikipédián nincs helye.

A Wikipédia valami különleges. Olyan, mint egy könyvtár vagy egy park. Az elme szentélye. Egy hely, ahol mindnyájan gondolkodhatunk, tanulhatunk, megoszthatjuk egymással a tudásunkat.

Amikor a Wikipédiát alapítottam, egy reklámbevételekből fenntartott, profitorientált vállalkozássá tehettem volna, de úgy döntöttem, hogy valami mást fogok csinálni. Az évek során keményen dolgoztunk azon, hogy a padlón tartsuk a költségeket. Teljesítjük a küldetésünket, a pazarlást meghagyjuk másoknak.

Ha mindenki, aki ezt a felhívást olvassa, 1000 Ft-ot adományozna, akkor minden évben csak egyetlen napig kellene adományokat gyűjtenünk. Nem mindenki tud vagy akar adományozni, és ez rendben is van így. Minden évben elegen döntenek úgy, hogy támogatnak minket.
