Steward requests/Global
- For global IP block requests, read the guideline and make a request below. Indicate why a global block is necessary and for how long.
- For account lock requests, read the guideline and post under Requests for global (un)lock and (un)hiding.
- For local requests here on Meta, see Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat
If you are here because you have been blocked by a global block, and believe that the block is in error or you have not done anything wrong, there are a few methods through which you can appeal:
- If the IP is not currently blocked on meta, you can post a request to this page following the instructions below to have the IP unblocked.
- If the IP is currently blocked on meta, you can post an appeal on your talk page. For maximum effectiveness, link to the username of the steward who globally blocked the IP address using the code
[[User:USERNAME|USERNAME]]
so that they are pinged by it. - If you are editing from an account and have been caught by a global IP block that is unlikely to be removed (i.e. because it is an open proxy or because of long-term abuse), you can request an individual exemption from the block at the requests for global permissions page. Please see the section on global IP block exemptions on that page for specific instructions for making a request.
- If none of those options work, you are free to email us at stewards@wikimedia.org.
Note: (un)blocks apply to IP addresses; and (un)locks apply to global accounts

Please describe abusive activity of an account before reporting them here. Since stewards are often not active at projects the reported accounts are, things that seem obvious to you may not be equally obvious to the reviewing steward.

Global lock/unlock for Adi Vancica
- Adi Vancica (talk • contribs • block • xwiki-contribs • xwiki-date (alt ) • gblock • ST • lwcheckuser )
Please consider globally locking the above-noted account, which appears to be a sockpuppet of the cross-wiki vandal Beleiutz. It is active on several wikis. See Vandalism reports#Long-term, recurrent vandalism and en:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Beleiutz for evidence. —Psychonaut (talk) 15:36, 15 September 2014 (UTC) Reply
- The report Psychonaut references was pulled from archive today, it was old, from January. I moved it to Vandalism reports/Beleiutz and organized it. As organized, it shows that the only activity alleged to be Beleiutz in the last few months is Adi Vancica, and that account is not being disruptive. The only reference to Adi Vancica in the report is in Vandalism reports/Beleiutz#Recent activity, to Psychonaut's still-open filing on en.wikipedia of a suspected sock puppet report. Adi Vancica is blocked nowhere. --Abd (talk) 00:19, 16 September 2014 (UTC) Reply
- I'm mystified as to why Abd is treating Beleiutz as a new phenomenon. The document he's moved to Vandalism reports/Beleiutz is not "old"; it is a long term vandalism report which has been continuously updated since its original posting, and documents disruption and remedies going back several years. The account above is a solid behavioural match for Beleiutz. Over the last year or two dozens of socks and IPs have already been blocked on individual wikis, or globally locked here on Meta, on the basis of similar evidence. That English Wikipedia hasn't gotten around to blocking this latest incarnation yet is hardly surprising, given that en:WP:SPI there currently has nearly a backlog of nearly three weeks. I posted the SPI there before realizing that this particular sock, like some others, is active across several different wikis, and therefore needs to be dealt with centrally. —Psychonaut (talk) 06:54, 16 September 2014 (UTC) Reply
