Steward requests/Permissions

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
This is an archived version of this page, as edited by Bdk (talk | contribs) at 21:14, 18 September 2013 (Removal of access: +1). It may differ significantly from the current version .

This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure. Minimum voting requirement are listed here.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

 • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
 • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
 • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewards connect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

Username@xxproject
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

 • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
 • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case this is for multiple users, leave this field blank and give a list of these users in your remarks.
 • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

Soul Train@bxr.wikipedia

Hello. At the moment there too many violations and vandal-attacks in Buryat Wikipedia with disclosure of personal information of users from Russian Wikipedia. Somebody has to stop it. I still think that Buryat Wikipedia has absolutely no native users, and, unfortunately, became the basis for personal attacks. At the moment there's voting for my candidature, but I can't stop those attacs without sysop permissions. This year I already was bxr.wikipedia's admin, but not prolong my permissions cause of lack of the native speakers.--Soul Train (talk) 15:43, 13 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

I would not say that I was not known but not confirmed if it was a mistake as the points stated for removal seems not covering me, Anyways I had stated the present consensus and further Hi wikipedia is seriously lacking a crat. So I reiterate the request. --Ashish Bhatnagar talk 03:26, 26 August 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

Removal of access

<translate>

 • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
 • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.</translate>

7 supports from autoconfirmed users between July 27 and August 29. --GZWDer (talk) 10:21, 6 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

It seems that amongst those, in at least 4 cases the account was created specifically for the vote (noted by an IP on the page, confirmed myself for 守望者爱孟, Coolmanjackey , Fayhoo , JuneAugust). DarkoNeko (talk) 11:39, 6 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

Check completed. CheckUser evidence suggests the accounts are unrelated and therefore there is no evidence of sock puppetery (削除) vote stacking or other abuse. (削除ここまで) QuiteUnusual (talk) 23:45, 6 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

Bdk@de.wikipedia

Status:  In progress

Please remove the CheckUser access bit from my de.wiki account.
Unfortunately, I was inactive in the last couple of months due to private life; haven't even edited much on Wikimedia projects in the last year. Fortunately new Checkusers are (re)elected on de.wikipedia this month, so this resignation, after some years of "service", won't leave any noteworthy gap within the local CU group.
I already unsubscribed from the CU mailing list myself, and asked Pathoschild for removal from the CU related IRC channels. Additionally there's only the private CU wiki, where someone else has to close my account (routine, I guess).
Many thanks --:bdk: 21:13, 18 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

Miscellaneous requests

Steward requests/Permissions/Misc-header

ModriDirkac@Slovenian Wikipedija

For helping new users at the time when they are not so sure about how to edit, we would like to create e-mail account where they can send inquiries how to edit, request for help etc. This e-mail account will be published on first page of SLO Wiki and also in welcome box for all new users. My suggestion is pomoc@wikipedia.org (pomoc=help). I've done few such helps other way, with some screen sharing software tool and proved very effective, until they understand talk pages, village pumps and other ways to adress comunity and, also very important, to gain basic technical and copyright principles. I have no problem if several other admins have access to this mailbox. ModriDirkac (talk) 21:50, 14 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

That should be handled on bugzilla.wikimedia.org, not here. --Rs chen 7754 21:52, 14 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]
Nothing can be done by stewards here. Ruslik (talk) 12:16, 15 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]
Hm. Could you pls be more specific what to do to open official email account as described above? Should I report a bug :O? --ModriDirkac (talk) 20:55, 16 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]
You have two options, request a mailing list or email the OTRS administrators at volunteers-otrs@wikimedia.org and request a queue be created. Tiptoety talk 19:15, 17 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]
My suggestion is a queue on OTRS (named info-sl) since permissions-sl (for all permissions inquiries) already exists. Trijnstel talk 20:41, 17 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]
Thx for your advices; will follow. Stay well.--ModriDirkac (talk) 16:20, 18 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

Omshivaprakash@Kannada Wikipedia

As a part of project started improve google translated pages on kannada wikipedia (w:kn:ವಿಕಿಪೀಡಿಯ:ಯೋಜನೆ/ಅನುವಾದಗೊಂಡ_ಲೇಖನಗಳ_ಸಂವರ್ಧನಾ_ಯೋಜನೆ) I need importers privilege to be able to import templates for further enhancements and translations. This would help us enhance more than 1800 articles and also the other projects created around the language wiki for better templates. Omshivaprakash (talk) 18:34, 15 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]

Done for at least 1 month, or longer if needed, per talk on IRC. Please inform us when the rights can be removed. Trijnstel talk 18:55, 15 September 2013 (UTC) [reply ]
