Maybe we should use separate Drupal sites for backend data and for front end presentation

(Here's a post which I originally posted at: http://www.freewayprojects.com/2013/08/maybe-we-should-use-separate-drup... )

OK, we’re looking at the development and deployment question.

This is a big area of interest for me. I’ve actually created a framework for development and deployment of web applications (primarily Drupal) and it is at:

Data Export Import module now has a Drupal 7 version

Posted by bailey86 on November 5, 2012 at 4:54pm

Hi,

I have a module which will export nodes, taxonomy terms and users from a Drupal site to data files. These data files can then be imported into another Drupal site which has the module installed.

The easiest way to try out this module is to:

  • Install it on a test site.
  • Create some content.
  • Install the module.
  • Export nodes (or terms or users) to a data file.
  • Delete the data.
  • Import the the previously created data file.
  • Marvel at the data which has now been re-created.

Drupal 7 Data Module

Posted by G0DeSs76 on April 18, 2012 at 7:48pm

So, I'm a Drupal n00b and I'm trying to display some data from an external MySQL database in a View. I found a Module called Data that says it can do what I want, however, there is no documentation and I have NO idea where to begin with it.

Do any of you guys/gals have experience with this module?

I could really appreciate some pointers.

Thank you in advance!!!

New Export/Import module has been updated

Posted by bailey86 on February 8, 2012 at 11:38am

Hi,

The previously mentioned new data export and import module has been extensively updated.

Now, all content types can be exported and imported - as well as the taxonomy terms.

I would appreciate some help with getting the module reviewed. The project is at:

http://drupal.org/sandbox/bailey86/1278830

and the issue is at:

Data Export Import module - testing and reviewing would be appreciated

Posted by bailey86 on December 7, 2011 at 12:33pm

Hi,

NB - The module has now been extensively developed and both Drupal 6 and Drupal 7 versions are available. The module is at:

http://drupal.org/project/data_export_import

This module is designed to be part of a whole dev/staging/live deployment process.

Basically, you can push development changes up to a beta copy of a new site - and then using the Data Export Import module you can export data from a live site and then import that data into the beta site to produce a new version of the site.

Need Data for Infograph

Posted by jefmcclimans on August 1, 2011 at 7:33pm

Hello, I am trying to create an infograph about Drupal showcasing its strengths and advantages, especially showing how it has grown since it's inception, numbers of modules and themes by year possibly, ect... or any other Ideas I may not have thought of. I am not a Drupal user myself(yet), so if anyone has any Ideas I would be welcome to them. If anyone has any good links to data or any data or know anyone who would have this information it would be a great help.

Libraryhack 2011 - Ideas Competition

Posted by richardhayward on March 3, 2011 at 11:25pm

Have you got a great suggestion for a new and innovative way to use library data but maybe not the technical skills to bring that idea to life? Submit an idea for an application or data mashup to be eligible for this prize. Your idea might then be developed by someone else as an application or mashup as part of Libraryhack. For inspiration have a look at the list of data sets to be made available by the participating libraries and from February 8, submit an idea. You can enter as many times as you like.

Need help building data-driven site

Posted by Dee-Ann LeBlanc on June 19, 2009 at 9:32am

I'm vaguely competent in Drupal basics but I keep hitting a bit of a wall. I'm building a site that would allow people to log in, set themselves up as a provider or a consumer (so to speak), and fill in details about who they are or what they need. Then the site could suggest to the consumers what providers are in their area and might meet their needs. I'd also like to allow for commenting on providers and consumers and rating them.

I hope this isn't too vague, but that's the gist.
