AdBlock to Bitcoin tool to Monetize Traffic

Posted by dkl4 on December 10, 2015 at 6:23pm

Bitcoin offers the potential for revenue streams outside the traditional advertising models.

Longer term I can see 21.co having the "heft" to setup a bitcoin-based paid content model with associated services. However, in the here and now there's a quick-and-dirty tool which will ask those with AdBlock to donate to your site with bitcoins.

An Ad Module That's Not an Ad Module

Posted by Tran on September 20, 2015 at 8:09pm

http://www.salon.com/2015/09/18/apple_just_did_something_that_has_journa...

I use the simple ads module and sell my own ads.
Local, smallish town news can't survive on 3rd party ads.

For a time I used the google chrome ad block so I could get rid of the annoying popups that lead to malware on weird channels that stream sports sites.

But I realized that was hiding the ads on my site, so I stopped.

Aviso al inicio del portal

Posted by mnovoa on May 29, 2013 at 4:32pm

Hola

saludos

Using OpenPublish for a newspaper site and finding a UK host

Posted by Num85 on January 10, 2012 at 3:45pm

I'm looking to set up a newspaper site using OpenPublish, the theme of the site is a user generated news site. I'm a bit confused on how to go about it and was looking for some help.
Firstly does anyone know of a good UK based host which supports OpenPublish installations? I'm looking for one with servers in the U.K.
Secondly the site I'm setting up will have a advertising revenue sharing program and was wondering if anyone knew if OpenPublish supports this - do I have to install other modules to get this to work?

Making Money on Newspaper Sites

Posted by Pica on November 3, 2011 at 4:51pm

For 10 years I've helped small daily and weekly newspapers have successful websites, (400?) I have helped those clients with the software, but the main part of my consulting was the revenue - how the newspaper leveraged their traffic for income.
I have worked with the largest software development companies in the US newspaper industry. Recently I have decided the future is Open Source for smaller newspapers, my niche.

Drupal-based Open Source Advertising Network

Posted by drupalwatchdog on February 6, 2008 at 1:43am

I'm looking for beta testers at Ad Bard, an open source advertising network that I'm building using Drupal and the Ad module. The project is current in beta testing, with the current goal being to build a network of websites focused in one way or another on free and open source software. If you're interested in participating, please sign up for a free account, and follow the directions to place the appropriate javascript on your website.

I'm also quite interested in hearing feedback on the idea. What would it take for an advertising network like this to be interesting to you? What features would you like to see? I look forward to any suggestions and/or criticisms.

What ad server do you use?

Posted by PRFB on January 19, 2008 at 12:54am

I have a consumer information site in a very specific niche. I've got AdSense and Commission Junction accounts today, but I think it would be very feasible to sell CPM ads directly (since this is such a specific niche and I know a lot of the players personally). The question is, using what platform?

My closest competitor uses Open AdStream by Real Media (and they say this on their site!) but their site also happens to be written in ColdFusion so I don't think of them as cutting-edge...

Drupal monthly newsletter -- building a massive email list

Posted by Bence on December 6, 2007 at 9:11pm

Greetings,

the #1 best idea from this post: http://groups.drupal.org/node/6943 is the monthly newsletter. Learn more why.

There is already a newsletter page, but we could do it way better: http://drupal.org/newsletter (Note I don't talk about mailing lists, there are very good mailing lists here: http://drupal.org/mailing-lists. I am talking about building an opt-in EMAIL LIST. This means that only Drupal can send emails to all the list members, but no other member can send an email to others. Also only Drupal sees all the members, and the members are unable to see each other.)
