Performance issues with INNODB vs MyISAM

Posted by deja711 on April 23, 2015 at 8:18pm

Not sure where is the most appropriate post for this, let me know if anybody has suggestion.

I am having performance issues with INNODB. My major issue is that with INNODB I am getting approximately 20 times slower performance than with MyISAM. For the purpose of testing I have used Drupal 7 with devel module installed. Further more I used 2 bare bone servers with default installations so I can do parallel comparisons.

Need advice on setting up BOA for multiple servers in order to clone sites between each server easily

Posted by sierraoscardelta on September 22, 2013 at 9:34am

Hi there,

I would like some advice on how to best go about achieving a dev-stage-pro workflow using BOA across multiple servers.

I currently have 3 VPS', (2 with Linode, and another with a local provider). I also have a HP Proliant, at home, that i'm wanting to repurpose as a dev server and throw into the mix.

Aptitude and Apt-get command problems after barracuda install

Posted by jasmineah on April 25, 2012 at 11:16pm

Hi guys,

I was wondering if you can help. I've recently installed Barracuda on a fresh debian vps. Everything went well however, i can no longer use the aptitude and apt-get commands for anything e.g.. updating os, installing other packages. i keep getting this message-

"Err http://ftp.uk.debian.org squeeze Release.gpg
Could not connect to host:port, connection timed out"

I've contacted my hosting company and they think its something to do with the Barracuda install. Any idea how i can resolve this problem? Thanking you in advance.

Kind Regards

Jasmine

Hello all,

I want to split up my BOA install so that /data lives in another partition/disk within my Linode.

I see many approaches...:

... but I just wanted to double check there's nothing I've forgotten. My rough plan, minus commands, is...

How to? Determine and fix "minimal" OS in VPS

Posted by rhimes on November 19, 2011 at 3:08pm

ordered/requested a VPS w/ "minimal" Debian (Squeeze) OS from my host - I've yet to find a definition of "minimal(fresh) OS", so I'm a bit confused
1 - how do I verify if that is what I got when logged in as root via PuTTY
2 - how do I correct it if it's not "minimal"

I'm NOT a sys-admin type, so kindly be specific - when I connect I get:
"root@test:~#" ----- "ls -al" returns:

total 20
drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Nov 16 23:57 .
drwxr-xr-x 21 root root 4096 Nov 16 16:55 ..
-rw------- 1 root root 921 Nov 18 11:28 .bash_history
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 558 May 27 01:07 .bashrc

Security - blocking Korean IP ranges

Posted by barwonhack on November 1, 2011 at 1:01am

Just wondering is there is any specific approach to (additional) server security for Debian Squeeze BOA?

I want to block specific country IP ranges (eg: Nth Korean origin of root SSH log in attempt).

Additionally, any specific advice on non-BOA Debian installation and configuration options?

In addition to blocking certain country IP ranges that simply are not within my target audience, I am also looking at installing fail2ban (http://www.fail2ban.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) for more dynamic protection.

Drupalinstallation på Debian Lenny kontra vanlig installation

Posted by kleve on August 23, 2010 at 8:53am

Hej

DNS configuration help

Posted by spangaroo on March 27, 2010 at 4:36am

I'm running Debian Lenny via VMware Fusion. Completely fresh VM with only the standard and desktop environments enabled. I've followed the excellent screencast at mig5.net to get the base server configured correctly.

I then run /tmp/install.sh.txt as the aegir user and everything is reported as [ok]. Here is the top part of the install.sh.txt file:

basic variables, change before release

AEGIR_DOMAIN=aegir.local
AEGIR_VERSION=0.4-alpha5
AEGIR_HOME=$HOME
WEB_GROUP=www-data
