BOA Webmin and virtual hosts in Nginx

Posted by Anonymous on November 19, 2012 at 7:06am

I am looking for information about how to properly use webmin to setup a new domain in a BOA server - a domain that will not be a drupal site at all.

This is for those of us too poor to have two separate servers and who have to provide for a few non-drupal non-aegir sites on their server.

I know that Webmin can be used to setup a new dns zone for the new non-drupal domain. After that I know that I either manually add a vhost file in nginx or, suppossedly I should be able to use Webmin for this, since webmin is suppossed to support nginx. My questions are as follows:

Varnish loading default site instead of the correct site

Posted by lobo235 on February 25, 2011 at 9:15pm

I've got an issue with varnish on my mercury server. I have a site that is located outside of /var/www so I setup a new apache vhost for the site that points to it's proper location and configured it to run on port 8080. When I try to visit the site through varnish on port 80 the default site comes up instead of the site i am expecting. When I visit the site on port 8080 it works fine. Is there something I need to do to varnish to make it aware that the site is not in /var/www? Any help would be appreciated.

non-www to www redirects on a Mercury multi-site VPS

Posted by lobo235 on December 6, 2010 at 7:50pm

We have a mercury server setup on VPS.net that is using multi-site to run multiple sites using the same Pressflow install. We recently ran into a problem with implementing our non-www to www canonical domain redirects. In the past we were able to uncomment the section of the .htaccess file included by Drupal to do these redirects because we were not using multi-site. Now that we are using multi-site we have tried to implement the redirects using apache vhosts but the redirect never seems to happen and it appears to be some kind of interference from Varnish that is keeping it from working.

Self-hosting Questions: vhosts, power outages, RAID backups

Posted by synchlayer on December 30, 2009 at 1:16am

I’m pretty new to the world of hosting one’s own site, so have few newbie Qs.

1) I’ve been trying to setup a vhost for our new site so I can keep the existing dev site separate. I’ve created an A record with our DNS host for our new domain, and then followed the instructions here (http://drupal.org/node/111238) to set up a vhost on our Ubuntu server, when I got this error message:

Syntax error on line 2 of /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/amherstmedia.org:
Invalid command '\xc2\xa0\xc2\xa0\xc2\xa0', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration

multipul users

Posted by sanguis on June 5, 2007 at 3:39pm

ok so we have plenty of people who are able to do a multi site install of Drupal where they are the host and the developer, or don't have others working on the same site. I have a situation where I have multipul users that should not have access to each others files and I don't want to have to create additional ftp accounts.

I am on a LAMP server and want to be able to offer my customers the option to have a 'one install to rule them all' set up, minimizing the time it takes to upgrade the system. Drupal 5's overrides system works great for this.
