Customizing Open Scholar User Signup

Posted by Jaxem on February 23, 2012 at 9:34pm

Hey all,
I'm part of a team investigating open scholar for our university to see if we want to use it. One key thing we want is some sort of integration with CAS in the user signup, When you sign up it allows the user to enter info in fields, does anyone have any experience using a CAS sign on to auto-fill these fields. I've been trying to find where i can even edit the setup of the user signup page without much luck, can i do this through the Drupal UI? Any help is really appreaciated guys, thanks!

Download an event as iCal file

Posted by vitalie on May 6, 2011 at 6:15pm

Greetings from Moldova! I would like to check with you the following idea for a module: download an event as an iCal file.

It was motivated by a need to attach a calendar event to the messages sent by the Signup module. A history of this can be read here. Also there you can find the actual module. It's already written, since at that time there seemed not to be an existing solution. I would like to put it on drupal.org.

So what do you think?

Vitalie

Rules event for Signup module

Posted by magnus on November 26, 2010 at 10:44am

Signup module is great, but at the moment it lacks Rules events. There was some initial work done to implement this and with some help I extended that patch. It would be great if someone who knows Rules better could have a look at "Add rules event for signup" and give some feedback or help develop the patch.

Joachim wrote a review here: http://drupal.org/node/595414#comment-3750890, but unfortunately I'm not able to sort everything out.

Best practices for event registration?

Posted by danny englander on November 16, 2010 at 3:12pm

I am converting a WordPress site to Drupal and we currently have an event registration form where you can signup / RSVP for an event. Anyone can go to the form and signup, you don't need to get invited or register on the site. I have looked at the Drupal Signup and CCK Signup modules but neither seems to do exactly what I need. With Signup, it seemed difficult to add custom fields and with CCK Signup, there was some question as to whether or not anonymous users could signup but documentation is lacking for the latter.

This might be a bug with signup itself, but I haven't seen such an issue on any of my own sites running Signup.

D6 installation profile for testing CCK date fields now available

Posted by dww on November 23, 2008 at 8:23am

I just released an install profile for D6 core that sets up a test site for trying out all the combinations of CCK date field configurations: CCK Date Testsite. I've discovered various bugs in Signup's handling of CCK date fields (and have been fleshing out bugs and limitations in DateAPI itself with KarenS's help). I was spending a lot of time just configuring a reasonable test site to try different combinations of CCK date field types (Date, Datestamp, vs. Datetime) and timezone handling (there are 5 different ways date fields can handle timezones). So, I quickly decided the time spent automating the test site would easily save me time in the long run. And, I hope this profile will be useful to other folks working with DateAPI and CCK date fields.

Signup module supports CCK date fields and is now available for Drupal 6

Posted by dww on November 15, 2008 at 2:55am

After a successful fundraising effort and a lot of hard work, I'm pleased to announce that the Signup module has made some major leaps forward in the recent past:

  • Supports CCK date fields for reminder emails and auto-close functionality (#86462). You can have both event and date enabled on the same site. For CCK date node types, you select which date field you want to use for signup functionality when configuring the node type.
  • Ported to Drupal 6, Views2, etc. The 6.x-1.0-rc1 release candidate is now out.

There are a ton of other improvements too numerous to list here. For details, check out the 5.x-2.6 and 5.x-2.5 release notes.
