Hi!
I Just moved here, so I don't have a clue. Just name a date and place and we can take it from there!

I was thinking something

Posted by Bevan on September 24, 2007 at 5:01am

I was thinking something along the lines of a hackfest; maybe a see how many 6-beta issues we can move along the chain closer to resolution, or whatever. Maybe some prefer just to share a meal and or beers? I'm easy. Perhaps we could do the former in the afternoon and mix it with the latter in the evening, or something? There's a bunch of other drupalers in Chch. They seem to be hiding in the woodwork still...

I'm guestimating from http://drupal.org/user/74669 that you're from Norway? So what brings you Chch? :)

You are 100% correct, I'm

Posted by steinmb on September 24, 2007 at 8:08pm

You are 100% correct, I'm Norwegian :-D My girlfriend got offered a research position in Lincon Uni. so just took the opportunity to visit NZ! I am currently between jobs (still looking), NZ companies seems to have all the time in the world when it comes to hiring people, or is it just me?

Beer is always very important :)
- I have been testing and debugging D6 for since jun. and there is still allot to do. If we are going to do that we need to agree on what is needed to look into. check with some of the main developers perhaps first.

  • OR a more hands on with D5 themes and what changes does D6 bring to theming.
  • More CCK and Views topics

I don't we should try to put too much in just one day, there have to be time to beer ;)

Well it looks like none of the other Canterbrian drupalers are into that. Maybe if we suggest beer at the Hop on Friday some of them will pipe up; Gold? Marek? Jonathan? Dave? Andrew? Maybe we should try get their attention in other pla ces.

Hmmm maybe they don't like beer, or Norwegians? :-D Have you heard anything from them? I think I met Andrew at Software Freedom Day, but as an alien here in NZ :-) I'm not sure how much I can help you tracking them down..... But I am always up for e beer, Friday ( 5? ) suits me just fine.

Many of them are there

Posted by Bevan on October 1, 2007 at 11:48pm

Many of them are there religiously on Friday evenings. Perhaps they're no longer subscribed or active in this group.

Lets go with Friday at the Hop. Arrive 5/6pm ish. I'll chat to egressive/effusion closer to the time and see if we should book our own table. Friday 19 is the last day of the semester -- which is convenient for me.

Drupal Hoppin'

Posted by lightweight on October 2, 2007 at 9:01pm

Hi fellas - welcome to NZ, steinmb! We have no problems with Norwegians that I know of, unless they get to the beer before us (and manage to drink it all before we get there). Looking forward to catching up. As Bevan says, we're there every Friday night - the closest thing I have to religion - so you don't need to wait until the 17th! Come find us at the Effusion Group table - we're usually at 5pm (+/-5 min)... (if Bevan hasn't explained, the Effusion Group is a cluster of open source/open standards companies in Christchurch, and Egressive is one of them. So is Evolved (Gold), and Encode (Marek) and a bunch of others with less involvement in Drupal specifically).

Looking forward to meeting you and anybody else who decides to turn up!

Dave from Egressive

Not sure if I'll be making it this week.

Hopefully I'll be working on-site this afternoon and I have no idea when it'll finish.

Hi Gold! :)

Could you let Egressive know about the change to this week. They haven't replied since I posted that... Tks.

I meant to say, inspired by the Welly meetup; http://groups.drupal.org/node/6236

Thanks for the nudge, Bevan

Posted by jonathan_hunt on October 2, 2007 at 8:50pm

I'm keen, and I'm sure there will be others. I suggest an earlier start (4pm) so we can have a more Drupal-focussed discussion before the beer kicks in and we get swamped by other people :-)

Early start...

I'm up for that, Jonathan. That's the sort of thinking we encourage here at Egressive... :)

Beer and Hacking Drupal? Count me in!

Posted by vshivak on October 2, 2007 at 9:47pm

Hey guys,

First of all I am sorry to be late to contribute to the discussion and thanks to Bevan for his reminder!

After "twisting my ankle" few weeks back, I think I am fully recovered now and I will see you guys this Friday at the Twisted Hop! 5:05pm is the time :)

Re hack fest originally planned for 2007年10月19日 (Friday). Yay! I am looking forward to it! My current thinking: meet around noon somewhere with (free) access to the Internet, unpack our laptops, order lots of coffee, hack, hack, hack, go to Twisted Hop afterwards for a pint. What do you think?

Organization-wise, I reckon we should talk at the Hop about what we could do for Drupal 5, 6 during one afternoon and then just do it :)

Cheers,
Marek

PS: welcome to New Zealand steinmb! I'm looking forward to meet you!

This Friday

Posted by Bevan on October 2, 2007 at 10:37pm

It seems like everyone is keen for beers sooner than later - so why don't we just do these drupal beers THIS Friday, and use that time to also plan something more-code oriented for Saturday 20 October?

Sounds good to me...
