Federated Social Web

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.
This group should probably have more organizers. See documentation on this recommendation.

The Federated Social Web is taking shape as people and organisations coalesce around standards (e.g. OStatus) and provide implementations of those standards. The are several efforts under way within the Drupal community to bring these technologies to the platform. The aim of this group is to provide a place where progress on work can be reported, ideas discussed and efforts co-ordinated.

Importing Facebook groups wholesale into Drupal Organic Groups?

Posted by dahacouk on May 11, 2013 at 11:45am

I'm wondering if anyone has done any work on importing Facebook groups wholesale into Drupal Organic Groups? I know we can export all the data from a Facebook group using the Facebook API. I guess the main task is to how to map Facebook comments (with revisions?), users, events and pages to a local Drupal instance. I guess make placeholders for these Facebook objects and allow these to be acquired retrospectively? Any ideas? Any projects with similar aims?

Big Data Drupal with Cloudera, Hadoop, MapReduce, Nutch and Solr

Posted by niccolox on March 6, 2013 at 5:59pm

thanks to the recent work of the Solr Nutch sandbox project I've managed to get Nutch 1.6 jobs to run on a Cloudera CDH3 4 node cluster sending results to Solr 3.6.2 (hosted within Tomcat on Aegir BOA) and then integrated into the Apache Solr 7.1.1 module (not the dev) into search results and Apache Solr Views

I must say, I am pretty excited about Hadoop / Cloudera running Nutch and Solr and integrating with Drupal

for anyone interested in setting up a Cloudera cluster I recommend masterschema (centos) and Gregory Grubbs on YouTube (debian)

I'll post some notes etc ASAP

OpenID Single Sign On

Posted by markwk on September 18, 2011 at 1:53pm

I'm currently using the OpenID Single Sign On with provider and client and with modules for syncing user profiles. Here's a patch I submitted to sync user profile pictures: http://drupal.org/node/1196160#comment-5003986. I think overall this solution works quite well, though could still use some work.

What sort of issues are people having / working on?

A couple issues I'm working on:

Syncing User Membership across sites
1.) how to sync both the creation and updating of group nodes (since my sites are using modified Atrium sites) between the hub and subsites and

OpenID Single Signon, Provider and Client

Posted by lelizondo on June 14, 2011 at 2:36pm

We've been discussing several solutions for the Single Signon problem in Drupal, and got to the conclusion that this is a really confusing topic and that there are several projects trying to achieve this goal in multiple ways, some of them work, some of them not quite.

How can I apply the maxlength module functionality to custom form fields?

Posted by hmdnawaz on June 1, 2011 at 10:35am

I have installed Maxlength module but it only works for the cck fields.
I have a custom form field textarea and I want to implement the Maxlength module functionality to this textarea so that I can limit its characters and also display the countdown remaining characters in the textarea. Any one who has some idea about this?

I would like to invite you to join us for the upcoming Federated Social Web Summit 2011 - June 3-5 20 in Berlin
http://d-cent.org/fsw2011/

Goals and Scope: This workshop intends to bring together communities building federated social networking code-bases with those involved in privacy and identity. It will be the second conference, following up on the original Federated Social Web Summit in Portland in 2010, but now with a focus on privacy protection in the social web and the cloud. As it is a W3C Workshop, it will have one day for position papers and discussion. To continue the tradition of the Federated Social Web Summit in Portland in 2010 and attract more developers, the summit will also have a open-space, including opportunities for collaborative coding and open talks, for an entire day. [*]

And also consider joining W3C Federated Social Web Incubator Group (soon changing into community group)

Federated Social Web Drupal task force

Posted by quiron on April 26, 2011 at 5:00pm

Hi all,

some time ago we started talking at ostatus mailing list about the implementation in Drupal 1. As Walkah suggested, we need an implementation task force to get Ostatus and Federated Social Web full working on Drupal.

I think that we should begin organizing who are avaiable to work in it and analize and distribute the tasks.

what do you think about? let's go?

Federated C.R.U.D. support in PuSH?

Posted by zirafa on January 25, 2011 at 10:10am

OStatus + PuSH seem like great tools to make RSS feeds more widely distributed and "real-time". However, it seems like if a user deletes or updates a post, PuSH subscribers should be notified of this change, which (correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't seem to be the case.

Does anyone know if PuSH supports delete and update pings to subscribers for previously pushed content?

It could sure use a review/commit.
