Activity

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.
This group should probably have more organizers. See documentation on this recommendation.

Activity within Drupal has seen some duplicate efforts over the years and we need to consolidate to bring about the ultimate solution. DiSo and other resources are available for coming up with general theory and specifications. Activity module has been mentioned as a core feature candidate as well as a sought after feature on drupal.org itself. Let's coordinate and share.

Organic Groups with Activity D7

Posted by ruess on January 13, 2012 at 4:24am

Has anyone successfully integrated an Activity stream to be filtered only by the organic group that the user is currently viewing (meaning, the main OG content type)?

Or alternatively, Heartbeat?

Thanks!

filter activity based on single or multiple taxonomy terms?

Posted by blairCruz on October 11, 2011 at 5:16am

Is it possible to filter activity based on a single or multiple taxonomy terms? I'm currently using activity in the context of the module activity_log to display a users activity, but I would like to also use it to display a nodes activity based on taxonomy or another suggested method.

The goal again is facebook style feeds for users or nodes. The first is for nodes or users that users are "subscribed" or "liked" to. The second is for a nodes activity, such as comment/forum threads that were started from that node or pictures that were tagged with the taxonomy of that node.

Activity 2 Roadmap to a release

I think its time we started saying this is what is required for a release. Either make it a timetable (which is what Drupal does) or make it a set number of issues that need to be resolved (which is what project* does :-D).

In that vain, here are the issues that I would like to solve for a release.

Activity2 User Interface

In order to understand the thinking behind this, you must remember that Activity2 is now based upon a configurable action which can be applied to triggers which are supplied through other modules. This gives us the ability to reuse a lot of the same core tables (actions and trigger_assignments) but the current Trigger and Actions UI's are quite confusing and encompass more than just Activity2 specific actions. There are also some limitations within the current Actions UI which create large complications when it comes to configuring an Activity2 Action.

I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this announcement (http://developers.facebook.com/news.php?blog=1&story=225) but I think it's a pretty important step in the right direction.

Activity 2.x vs general purpose logging module?

Posted by fago on April 6, 2009 at 4:10pm

I'm currently planning the rule based custom logging module, which I'm going to write after rules 1.0 is out. I post this to the activity group too, because I think there is quite a overlap to 2.x version, which is currently under development.

MySpace using activitystrea.ms spec

Checkout how MySpace has adapted this spec. We can get some idea on how to implement this as they have some example ATOM feeds listed.

I got this from the following Google group thread: http://groups.google.com/group/activity-streams/browse_thread/thread/d86...

Better demo site

Posted by sirkitree on March 10, 2009 at 12:14am

Does anyone have a better demo site I can link to from the project page? The old one is no longer... any good. I plan on getting a new demo up at http://activity.sirkitree.net - but wondering if anyone has one right now.

Ultimate activity feed - programming, technical

Posted by sirkitree on February 17, 2009 at 10:57pm

Maintainers of activity type modules, or other interested parties,

If you had to rewrite your module from the ground up, or architect the ultimate end-all be-all module for recording and displaying user activity on your site, how would you go about it now, knowing what you know?

From maintaining the Activity module, I think I've come up with some basic needs for this kind of feature, so let's discuss how to best go about implementing the functionality of the ultimate solution.

Basic needs:

Ultimate activity feed - features, UI

Posted by sirkitree on February 17, 2009 at 10:41pm

I think pretty much anyone looking for this sort of feature for their site comes from knowing how it is implemented on facebook and are looking for something very similar. If that is the case, there are a few main things that we're looking for it to do, how it should look and act from a user's standpoint. But what are your expectations?

Functionally:

  • Recording - What should this record? How long should it be stored?
