Scope and Motivation Scope and Motivation
[edit ]Our scope covers all Manitoba-related articles; this includes cities, flowers, animals, history figures, and other miscellaneous Manitoba content. For purposes of organization, all such articles should be included in the Category:Manitoba, or one of its subcategories.
- Manitoba is nicknamed the "Gateway to the West", with the longitudinal centre of Canada located just west of Winnipeg at 96 degrees, 48 minutes, 35 seconds W.
- Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba, is home to The Forks, a national Historic site of Canada.
- Manitoba has two official languages: English and French.
- Manitoba was established as a province in 1870, making it one of the oldest provinces of Canada.
- Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport is one of Canada's busiest airports for passenger traffic.
Guidelines
[edit ]- All articles related to Manitoba in some way, whether it be a historical figure, a flower, or even an image should be tagged with {{WikiProject Canada |class= |importance= | mb=yes }} , the project banner. This identifies them as within our scope, and places them in to a category, to allow organization, and future improvement.
- Participants in the project should remain civil when communicating within the project.
- Be bold in editing articles, or templates related to the project. This is a wiki, so if someone doesn't like your change, they can just revert it back. It can't hurt!

Infoboxes
[edit ]{{Infobox settlement }} —All settlements in Manitoba should use {{Infobox Settlement }}. This infobox provides a consistent look between the various types settlements in Manitoba (such as Winnipeg) and settlements in the other parts of Canada like Toronto, Montreal, St. John's, and Edmonton. The default "settlement_type" is city, but it can be changed to reflect any type of settlement, like counties, towns, villages, etc. {{Infobox Settlement }} also has a super imposable dot map feature that allows a map to be used with any settlement in Manitoba.
There is now a locator map for Manitoba. For how to use, for size of button, text, caption etc. see {{Location map }}
