Welcome to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) task force of the Water sports WikiProject. Some Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of RNLI-related articles and the organization of information and articles on this topic. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic.

If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.

Here are some tasks awaiting attention:
  • Article requests : Check through this list of former stations
  • Expand : Thinking as there isn't a page for the relief fleet boats that are currently active i.e. where a station has received a new Tamar boat and their old Tyne has been stationed as relief. I (MTimmins92) have a full list of relief fleet boats, currently only ALB but will soon be ILB as well. I would need to verify some boats that I am unsure of but this would be minimal.
  • Update : List of All current boat numbers and names that are on active station service - this is through the lifeboat station list page

Help and guidelines

[edit ]

Title format for station articles

[edit ]

Articles about lifeboat stations should be titled with capital letters as per WP:NOUN.

  • Pwllheli Lifeboat Station
  • Weymouth Lifeboat Station

Title format for lifeboat articles

[edit ]

Articles about actual lifeboats should be titled as follows (the italics for the title are added by the {{Infobox ship }} template):

  • RNLB Aguila Wren (ON 892)
  • RNLB Lloyds II (ON 986)
  • RNLB Blue Peter V (B-833)

If a lifeboat does not have a name, then the article should be titled using their hull number:

  • RNLB B-536

Table format in lifeboat articles

ON Op. No. Name Built In service Station Comments

Table format in station articles

[edit ]

With only two primary page editors at this time, who are in disagreement, the Tit-for-Tat re-editing of lifeboat "Tables in station articles" cannot continue. Until such time as there is agreement on a format, for now, the directive is removed to the talk page. As for existing tables, for now, what is done is done, and should not be changed. Discussion can continue on the Talk page. Martin Ojsyork (talk) 21:31, 19 January 2025 (UTC) reply
