Quantum beams inside a spherical volume
[edit ]Hello @Monkeysmashingkeyboards: this article, that you accepted is now up for Afc. I dont know if you noticed it, but was more or less expecting this, since Ldm1954 has some personal vendetta. - @Ldm1954, as far as I know, does not have any sort of personal vendetta against you or this article, they just found issues within the article that they think justifies deletion, but I can't speak for them. monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 15:58, 5 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
Follow-up on Draft:Neuro-electric therapy - Seeking Advice on Documentary Notability
[edit ]Hello Monkeysmashingkeyboards,
Thank you for your guidance. I merged the clinical data into the Meg Patterson article like you suggested.
Now addressing the independent notability gap... My long-term strategy is to create an article for the feature-length documentary, The Final Fix (narrated by Ewan McGregor), as the film itself is an independent, third-party subject demonstrating media coverage of the technology's 50+ year uphill battle.
I would greatly appreciate your professional advice on two points based on the evidence I've gathered:
WP:FILM Notability: Do you agree that the multiple film reviews (e.g., Movieguide, UK Film Review) and the Best Documentary Award it won at the Lonely Wolf: London International Film Festival that the page would then meet the criteria for a stand-alone article under WP:FILM (Notability for films), separate from the clinical device?
Long-Term Plan: If the documentary page is approved, will that new, independent article then serve as a strong secondary source to support the independent notability of the Neuro-Electric Therapy page, as it demonstrates significant and sustained media coverage of the technology itself?
Really appreciate the feedback here looking forward to your response!
OpiateFreedom (talk) 20:02, 5 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- If the multiple film reviews are independent(not sponsored, connected to the subject, etc), then it would probably meet WP:NFILM. The LWFF award doesn't affect notability, as it isn't a major institution as described in the guidelines. I won't guarantee anything, but it at least has a chance of becoming a full article. Cheers!
- (not accusing you of anything, but this message reads somewhat like an ai chatbot response. Just a friendly reminder that most editors have negative thoughts about using AI for communication, nor for writing articles - however, using AI to find sources is perfectly fine, I do it myself) monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 20:31, 5 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

Please be far more careful with your reviews
[edit ]@Monkeysmashingkeyboards, I really have to make this a strong request. Your recent declination of Draft:Andreas A. Malikopoulos indicated that you do not understand the notability criteria, and in particular WP:NPROF. The message you sent to the editor was completely wrong.
Unfortunately this is the second instance I have seen of problematic reviewing. You previously favorably reviewed at NPP Quantum beams inside a spherical volume, an article which has extremely unfavorable reviews by experts (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Quantum beams inside a spherical volume) with the page creator now indef page creation blocked (see Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1208#Requesting page creation block of User:Harold Foppele).

- After a review of the WP:NPROF guidelines, AA Malikopulos meets criterion 1(over 7k citations), and criterion 5a, since he is a full professor at Cornell. monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 22:27, 8 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- He is at the edge for criterion 1. You have misunderstood 5a, he is not a "Distinguished Professor" and dedfinitely does not pass on that. Ldm1954 (talk) 22:40, 8 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- What's the difference between a normal professor and a distinguished professor? Is a distinguished professor a separate job title, or is it more like the institution itself named the professor as distinguished(like cum laude)? Thanks in advance. monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 22:44, 8 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- It is a tricky, which is why mainly academics review on NACADEMICS. The ranking is Assistant Prof < Associate Prof < Full Prof < Named Chair < Distinguished Prof. A typical R1 university only has a handful of distinguished professors. Sometimes the name is different, particularly in europe; at Northwestern University it is "Trustee's Professor". 30-40 years ago a named Chair would be enough, but since then uni have become good at getting donors to fund Chairs. You have to look at titled Chairs, read the uni's criteria see how many there are and analyze. And follow WT:NPROF where much of this has been debated. Ldm1954 (talk) 23:03, 8 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- @Ldm1954 So, if I'm understanding this correctly, Dist. Prof is the highest honor(like magna cum laude) a professor can reach, it isn't a job title but a certification(?), and is decided by the school, yes? Thank you so much for the help and guidance, I truly appreciate it. monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 23:09, 8 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

Chema Alonso
[edit ]Hello! I am unsure how to say this in a way that won't offend you, but I really genuinely don't mean any harm, I'm just curious.
What was there specifically about Chema Alonso that motivated you to accept it despite the article (according to your tags, which I agree with) containing AI-generated content, fluff language, weasel words etc.?
I'm asking in an educational sense rather than "you shouldn't have done this". aesurias (talk) 11:05, 9 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- I had a conversation with asilvering and the other members of the NPP patrol discord server, which was originally about me being overly paranoid with drafts being AI-generated and slapping on that warning onto every draft with even 1 sign of AI writing without assuming good faith, but it eventually expanded to the purpose of AfC - prevent obviously garbage drafts from clogging up AfD. I read Chema Alonso, and while I knew it was AI, the sourcing established notability, and after I considered the weight of WP:TNT I decided that it probably had more than a 50/50 chance of surviving AfD. Hi Monkeysmashingkeyboards. I've read over this bot, and I have to wonder, what about when someone creates a new draft in the same location as an old draft? I'm fairly certain that triggers the filter, but I'm not sure it should be restored. Besides that, couldn't the job of this bot be replicated by setting 1370 to disallow? 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 00:57, 12 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- (talk page stalker) @45dogs No clue for the first part, but as for the second part, setting the filter to disallow would disallow the entire edit; even if the user mistakenly removed the template. A bot would not do this, and would just restore the templates back. – LuniZunie (talk) 01:05, 12 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- That's a good point - however:
- If 1370 was set to disallow, then at least some draft writers would be put off, since to them their work has just been denied, and they just wasted their effort. Say I wrote my draft in google docs, found sources for everything, and ctrl-a selected the Wikipedia draft, deleted all the wikitext, and pasted in the draft I wrote in google docs. That would count as a 1370 trigger as well, but reinstating the AFC templates is less bite-y. (wrote this before luni commented)

- The drive will run from 1 January to 28 February 2026.
- The drive is divided into two phases. Participants may take part in either phase or across both phases, depending on availability.
- Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled during the drive.
- Two-month drive-exclusive barnstars will be awarded to eligible participants.
- Each article review earns 1 point, while each redirect review earns 0.2 points.
- Streak awards will be granted based on consistently meeting weekly point thresholds.
- Barnstars will also be awarded for re-reviewing articles previously reviewed by other patrollers during the drive.

Question from MaelstromWilder (20:25, 29 December 2025)
[edit ]Really, really quickly:
I'm a BHP and my wife is a preschool teacher. We're both college educated and academically oriented people. We are in debt so donating to wikipedia is impossible! But... we surely have things to offer--even if it's just double-checking citations.
Nice to meet you!
Sincerely,
M Wilder --MaelstromWilder (talk) 20:25, 29 December 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

Question from PadredeCmonet (17:47, 1 January 2026)
[edit ]Hello! Thank you for being my mentor. I reverted a user's edit, because I found the entry to be incorrect and hearsay. The user subsequently changed it back. The entry does not match the cited reference in multiple, specific ways. I don't want to belittle the user by listing their mistakes. How do you suggest I proceed? --PadredeCmonet (talk) 17:47, 1 January 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- @PadredeCmonet I saw the edit; I would say the person who reverted you is in the wrong, but the edit seems to be made in good faith. I'd suggest leaving a message on the other editor's talk page, asking for their reasoning behind their edits. Cheers, and happy new year! monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 18:31, 1 January 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
