About Me
[edit ]- For those who dislike usernames and would rather call me by a real name, I'm Dave Craven. Good to meet ya
- I'm a chap, and I've lived in a few places in England, currently up North, though my heart lives in the South West.
- Sock drawer, in case you find one loose: User:WormTT, User:Wormbot, User:Worm That Trains, User:Wyrm That Turned
Things I'm proud of
[edit ]- My article work on Doom Bar , the first article that I actually wrote.
- A set of good articles on Cornish food: Stargazy pie, Pasty, Clotted Cream
Adoption
[edit ]- The more I work with them, the more I'm proud of my adoptees, past and present. I've lost a few along the way, but most are excellent!
- I believe I'm the most prolific adopter on Wikipedia, having adopted over 35 users.
- My version of the adoption course has gone on to influence other courses, as such I've been a strong influence in around 80 adoptions. If anyone has done more than that, let me know!
- If you think my style of adoption will be good for you, please go ahead and use it!
RfA Reform
[edit ]I attempted to fix RfA in 2011. After reading through over 300 RfAs and doing a lot of other research into the different areas, I came to the conclusion that it was not broken. It's letting good candidates in and keeping bad candidates out. What needs work is its perception, so if there's a good PR firm out there who want to improve how RfA looks to the casual editor for free, please do contact me. Other things I managed to do on the subject of RfAs.
- Start Request an RfA Nomination. I've since vetted many candidates, and have nominated 14 (9 successfully).

- Working at the other end of the process - launching a proof of concept for community desysopping. Co-launching a proposal for change.
On Adminship
[edit ]I currently hold a number of advanced permissions on the encyclopedia. I believe that there are responsibilities that come with those roles and I try to maintain the highest possible integrity in all matters. This is of course not always possible and if you feel that I am lacking as an administrator (or any advanced permission), I invite you to look at my recall process, shown below.
This recall process has three stages, discussion, petition and resignation. I will not consider multiple recall requests regarding the same incident.
Discussion
[edit ]Any issue must be discussed with me either on my talk page or by email prior to petition. If you are unsatisfied with the result of the discussion, proceed to the next stage. A discussion should include at least one comment from me or a 24-hour period where I have not responded.
Petition
[edit ]Any editor may request recall by starting a numbered petition on my talk page. Editors may request recall for any reason, but are expected to do so civilly and in good faith. To trigger a resignation, a recall petition must be signed by at least 10 editors each having over 500 edits and over one month of tenure.
I also allow for a counter-petition that I should not resign. A simple majority is required between the petition and counter-petition, to confirm the resignation.
Resignation
[edit ]To allow time for cooling off and to facilitate discussion and compromise, petitions should remain open for seven days. Petitioners may strike out their signatures at any time. If at the end of the petition period the required threshold is met, then I will resign; otherwise, the recall fails. I reserve the right to re-run at RfA at any time.

Executive Director's barnstar
[edit ]Hi Worm That Turned!
I am hereby awarding you the Executive Director's Barnstar, to celebrate your many contributions to the English Wikipedia!
You were recommended for the award by Maryana Pinchuk, who nominated you for being a "marvelous mentor" on the English Wikipedia. Maryana says that you've been an active adopter of new users in the Adopt-a-user program, you've been helpful at the Teahouse, and that you also work to sort through problems with people who've landed at AN/I or have otherwise gotten into conflicts in the community. She describes you as patient and kind and says you've spent countless hours composing lesson plans for Wikipedians-in-training (complete with barnstars for completing sections), including rewriting a lot of our garbled policy pages from scratch so that they're actually useable (for example, this page on copyright. I think Maryana first met you in person at a London meetup: she says you're just as lovely in person as you are on the wikis :-)
The Executive Director's Barnstar is an award that I give out every now and then, created for me by my colleague Frank Schulenberg to celebrate and honour editors who are making a particularly significant contribution to the projects. In addition to the work that Maryana describes above, since joining the projects in 2007, you've made more than 13,661 edits on 11 projects, according to the user contributions page on the toolserver. Thank you so much for your contributions!
If you, or anyone reading this, wants to nominate an editor for the ED Barnstar, please feel free to do it on my talk page. And thanks to Maryana at the Wikimedia Foundation, for making this nomination. Sue Gardner (talk) 20:01, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Special Awards
[edit ]These awards really meant something
Hi WormTT,
You may have already gathered that I'm not really into barnstars and Wikipedia's praise economy. However, when I am particularly struck by the decency and humanity of an editor's actions in the face of stressful conflict, I feel compelled to disregard my aversion. On such occasions, I turn to the Sword of Good Faith, which I believe has an honorable history in representing the rare ability to rise above the fray, and appreciate that at the other end of the optical cables, there is another human being. Throughout the KW RfC, you have behaved with great personal integrity. I was saddened to receive the email that you posted here, but impressed that the very next day you turned to reconciliation. Such fortitude in staying true to the purpose of Wikipedia in the face of adversity is precisely what the Sword of Good Faith recognises and it is a pleasure for me to express that recognition here. Barnstars
[edit ]
It should take a few weeks for everything to get coded and tested, and once that is done the community will be presented with a mock up to assess on aesthetic appeal.
Finally, I invite all of you to participate in the featured sounds process itself. Whether you're a performer, an uploader, or just come across a sound file you find top quality, and that meets the featured sound criteria, you can nominate it at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates. Featured sounds is also looking for people to help assess candidates (also at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates.)
Thanks again for such a strong showing of support, and I hope to see you at featured sounds in the future.

Such a shame that I had to block him, he'll make a great editor one day.
I honestly did not think too much of it at the start - did not really think it would help me too much either. I was very wrong. Dave, I'd like to thank you for finally adopting me, yes, it's taken a whole year and a month but I feel like I have finally achieved something, and that's being adopted by an experienced editor, and learning so much about the policies and guidlines of Wikipedia! I cannot say how much sorry I am that it took this long...I'm a slow learner, as you may have noticed, and procrastination does not help at all. I believe I am (maybe?) your youngest adoptee to have passed and graduated, which is an honor (and just think, if you've adopted me, you can adopt anyone! ) -- MST ☆R (Chat Me!) 13:04, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Something that I should have given you ages ago, but now is just fine. You Dave, are a model editor - an editor that everyone should look up to, even take a page from you. You have an impeccable, admirable and impressive integrity and honor. -- MST ☆R (Chat Me!) 13:04, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
I hope this barnstar hasn't been overused for you, but, I'd like to just remind you, that yes, your hard work is seen and is always appreciated. -- MST ☆R (Chat Me!) 13:04, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
