Woops. The information in this article is incorrect. The 13 x 1000 foot vessels I listed here are the maximum size that can fit through the locks of the Great Lakes Waterway, but they are too large to fit through the canals of the St Lawrence Seaway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geo Swan (talk • contribs) 17:27, 19 February 2005‎ (UTC) [reply ]

The Soo Locks (Sault St. Marie) are 1100 feet x 105 x 27'9" (http://www.duluthport.com/port-stats-facts.php). How common is the usage of Lakers (for ships confined to the Great Lakes) and Salties (ocean-going)?
