[edit ]|answered= parameter to no to reactivate your request.I'd like Wikipedia authors to consider updating the North America entry to include Houston, Texas, as an example among the highest population centers in North America. It is 6th largest in North America; 4th in the United States; and 1st in Texas.
Several examples of largest cities in North America included here (e.g., D-FW, Havana, Montreal) are considerably less populated.
Houston City population: 2,304,580 (2020 census)
Houston Metro population: 7,824,643 (Texas Urban Planning Agency)
Sources:
2020 Census, cited on Houston Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston):
https://www.census.gov/search-results.html?searchType=web&cssp=SERP&q=Houston%20city,%20Texas
Texas Urban Planning Agency, cited on Greater Houston Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Houston#cite_note-6):
"Growth Challenges and Opportunities in the Texas Triangle". (http://texasup.org/uncategorized/growth-challenges-and-opportunities-in-the-texas-triangle/) Texas Urban Planning Agency. Retrieved May 7, 2025.
I have no agenda except to mind my copy editor instincts to attempt to right wrongs where I see them. I do live in Houston also, so there's that.

[edit ]We should definitely add a paragraph on the name Turtle Island in #Names#. Should we add "sometimes called Turtle Island" to the intro? NayR5 (talk) 18:07, 27 May 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
