Speedy deletion

[edit ]

Am i missing something?

I'm not sure why this would get marked for speedy deletion... especially when my comments on my edits indicate i'm still working on it.

But what are the criteria here? Five Ten is the leading manufacturer of Rock Climbing shoes and has created numerous firsts and technical innovations in the outdoor industry.

In addition Charles Cole, the founder is one of the most respected names in Climbing history, with notable first ascents in Yosemite(Jollyroger and Space on el Capitan for instance) and in Joshua Tree National Park (Too many to list, he along with a couple friends developed over 90% of the area) These ascents stand today as classic 'test pieces', as measuring stick, by which climbers judge their own abilities... as a result of this history Five Ten is another of Charles list of Accomplishments... I plan to create charles page in the next couple days... Five Ten's information is just far easier to track down.

"does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject."

I included the list of industry firsts in this article for this very reason.

One should probably get a general newspaper reference as well. Rock and Ice is fine by me, but some people will dislike the close ties of the advertisers/sponsors and the magazine. You might check if "Physical culture: If the Shoe Sticks, Wear It" by Yishane Lee, New York Times, October 13, 2005, qualifies. I didn't see any really good ones, but there were several other articles by the same reporter, and pages of google hits I didn't have time to check. From "Footwear news", February 8, 1999, "Climbing-shoe firm Five.Ten is reaching past its niche market to summit the outdoor category" by Debra Carr:

Today, Five.Ten ... is one of the most respected climbing shoe companies in the world

The article is subscription only and the newspaper is an industry paper that only shoes five.ten is notable amongst the shoe industry, but hopefully that establishes it should be possible to find nice general WP:RS reliable sources for notability.
