Halloween is in full swing, and with that comes the seasonal tradition of watching spooky movies. This year we got a new installment in the Halloween series with Halloween Ends , the long-anticipated conclusion to the iconic slasher franchise, premiering in theaters on Thursday and on NBC's joke of a streaming service by pretty much that afternoon. While audiences get to see the epic final showdown between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, the movie itself has earned an unlikely rivalry with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness .
Multiverse of Madness is the sequel to 2016's Doctor Strange and the 28th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It premiered in theaters back in May, but due to director Sam Raimi imprinting the film with his own trademark horror camp, along with a surprising amount of PG-13 gory deaths for an MCU movie, it's become a fun movie to indulge during the Halloween season. This apparently inspired Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch to go on social media and pit the movies against each other in a series of trash talk tweets:
Climaxing in what was the built-up CGI death blow, Cumberbatch contrasted how cool he looked as a reanimated corpse flying around with a cloak made out of demons to Michael Myers being a decrepit old man living under a bridge and having his mask stolen by a 24-year-old wimp who himself gets beaten up regularly by a gang of band geeks.
In a post-credits tweet, Cumberbatch took one last dig at a director from this franchise who had nothing to do with the last three movies.
Despite championing Multiverse of Madness as a new Halloween classic, Benedict Cumberbatch went on to concede that Marvel's latest special Werewolf By Night was really awesome and blew both movies out of the water.
