2013 will definitely be the year of gaming on Linux. It has already begun… but mostly on the priorietary side. It's time to awaken, FOSS people! We are building the 'ultimate' open gaming platform and we need help!
With Lutris, we aim to make every game that runs on Linux (be it native or run through Wine or emulators) very simple to install and play. We aim to spare the player all the hassle by providing install scripts, unified configuration, community tools, perhaps an open API for games scores and such, etc.
Lutris has been in development since 2009 mostly by one man (Strycore), progress has been slow. The application is still in a very early stage so it's a good time to jump in, there is a lot to do in every domain!
The client app is written in Python/GTK3. The server is in Python too and the web part uses the Python framework Django.
If you don't know Python yet, it's a pretty easy language to learn. I'm a very amateur programmer but after only a few days of Python and GTK training I was able to fix small bugs and improve the interface. We don't mind having better skilled devs, though.
If you can't or don't want to program, you can help by testing and reporting bugs, talking about Lutris around you, recruiting skilled devs, designing, drawing otters for our propaganda team, writing news, etc.
You can get more information on: www.lutris.net Launchpad project page (source code, bugtracker)
IRC chat: #lutris on irc.freenode.net Google+
For technical questions, get in touch with Strycore.
