From what I understood (more like decypher, translation programs are way overrated) :
- You boot MDK 10.1 from you CD-Rom
- At some point Mandrake Installer tells you that it can't access the CD-Rom Drive and that it needs drivers to do so.
- Then it keeps asking for the drivers and the parameters of your CD-Rom.
This could com from a lot of different issue. Hopefully you should be able to sort it out easily enough.
What is likely to happen is one of the following :
- Your CD-Rom is connected through USB and Linux kernel can't seem to find it
- Your CD-Rom is connected through SCSI and Linux kernel can't seem to find it
Your CD-Rom is connected through SATA and Linux kernel can't seem to find it
So basically you need the driver of whatever peripherial your CD-Rom is connected to.
First thing to test is alternate kernels . If my memory is OK, you should be able to select between a 2.4 and a 2.6 kernel at boot . Try them both, chances are high that one of them is working.
If not, try them both again but adding -noapic -noacpi on the same line (should be something like boot : mdk2.6._xxxx -noapic -noacpi the bold part being what you type)
If none of this works, you will indeed need the drivers. There only the manufacturer and Google can help you.
