"We will not offer a fully installable evaluation
version of SuSE Linux, as too many people damaged their MS-windows partition
with it. Another reason is, that we put a lot of manpower in our product
SuSE
Linux. It's not only a combination of freely distributed software, put
together on a bunch of CDs. We test the software, build it to easy
installable rpm's, develope installation tools, make everything work 'out
of the box' as good as possible, put much effort and manpower in the
development of Linux as THE free operating system, ... Manpower has to be
paid, but how can you pay people without any income?
We have to sell a product. Please compare the price for SuSE Linux
Professional with its more than
2000 applications with the prize of another OS: You won't even get the OS
for that money. If that's too much, you are free to collect all applications
that you need
from the internet and build your own Linux, or find another distribution
that offers a fully installable ISO. With kind regards........"
Strong stuff, don't you think? - Carlie
Pour résumer, SuSE estime qu'un OS plus 2000 softs, çà vaut le coup de se
payer et qu'elle perd du fric avec les downloads.
