Je pense que tu dois te melanger les pedales niveau historique de linux:
* 1994: It still lasts until March this yearly, until Torvalds all components in the Kernel for matured and completely judged and Linux in the version 1.0 publishes. The published Kernel is for the first time networkable. The XFree86-Projekt contributes a graphic user interface (GUI). In this year publish the companies talk has and SuSE the version 1.0 of their Linux distributions.
* 1995: In March the next stable branch appears, the 1.2-Reihe. In the further run of the yearly Linux is portiert on the platforms DEC and on Sun SPARC. In the course of the years follow ever more postage run genes after most different platforms.
* 1996: The version 2.0 of the Kernels is published. The Kernel can serve now several processors at the same time, and becomes thereby for many companies a serious alternative in many work areas.

1994: linux 1.0 <-> windows 3.1 (puisque tu veux reparler de pc de monsieur tout le monde). Donc pas de multitache, pas de pile tcp/ip (pour reprendre certains elements precedents)
1995: linux 1.2 (mars) <-> windows 3.1 puis en august Windows 95 (mais bon il ne fut enfin instalable sur la plupart des pc QUE a partir du premier sp1 donc decembre 1995)
1996: Linux 2.0 <-> Win 95
pour ce qui concerne la ligne NT:

Donc arrete de comparer NT4 avec le kernel 1.2 s'il te plait comme tu peux le voir c'est pas franchement la meme generation !!!!
