gNewSense is derived from Ubuntu, and thus has most of the same functionality. There are a number of differences though.

    - Firmware removed from kernel in main
    - Restricted removed
    - Ubuntu logos replaced
    - Universe enabled by default

emacs, bsdgames, nethack and build-essential part of the default install

Note our goal is to produce a fully free distribution, not to have as many features as possible.

    MainRepo

Main is the Canonical supported component of Ubuntu. This is where most of our changes happen.

    Packages Changed
    - ubuntu-artwork
    - base-files
    - launchpad-integration
    - linux-source
    - ubuntu-meta
    - ubiquity
    - update-manager

    Universe

Universe is the Ubuntu community maintained repositry component. It consists of entirely free software (multiverse being the non-free equivilent).

We hoped to have no differences bewteen our Universe and Ubuntu's. Unfortunately a small numbers of changes do have to be made due to licensing.

    Changes
    - Removed linuxsampler - non-commercial http://bugs.debian.org/328121

    Deltad
DeltaD is to be our first release. It is based off Dapper.
There was a checklist, but it's now managed via the BTS.

THRAK (def.) : 1) A sudden and precise impact moving from intention, direction and commitment, in service of an aim. 2) 117 guitars almost striking the same chord simultaneously.
