C'est le protocole qu'ils mettent au point: ils essayent de faire une interface 'standardisée' pour qu'il y ai interopérabilité entre les applications et les desktop.

xdg-shell, on the contrary, is supposed to be provided by the compositor. So you will find the "xdg-shell-client-protocol.h" header in the Weston source tree.
