Senegal

The per capita income of Senegal grown to 1,040 U.S. dollars (World Bank: 2012), the income category of the country has moved from one of the poorest countries in the world to a low-income country. Senegal, however, still faces many challenges such as those related to urbanization resulting from rapid population increase, and public social services. JICA's support to Senegal is primarily focused on: 1) strengthening the base of economic development, 2) promoting the primary industries (Agriculture and Fisheries), and 3) improvement of the basic social service.
