Malaysia

In 2019, Malaysia announced its 10-year National Development Plan, "Vision 2030", which aims to make Malaysia a country that achieves sustainable growth along with fair and equitable distribution across income groups, ethnic groups, regions and supply chains by 2030. To achieve this goal, JICA's cooperation in Malaysia is focused on three priority areas: 1) Supporting a balanced development toward Malaysia becoming a high-income nation, 2) Response to common issues in East Asian region, and 3) the Japan-Malaysia Development Partnership beyond the East Asian region. In particular, since 1982 JICA is continuing to support the "Look East Policy" advocated by then the former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir in 1981.
