Previous research

After graduating from the Department of Economics at National Taiwan University, I completed a master’s program in International Studies at the University of Tokyo and joined the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO) in October 2025. With East Asia as my primary regional focus, I have conducted empirical analyses, including impact evaluations of childcare policies in Taiwan and studies of Indonesia’s labor market during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Current research projects

I am currently working on two projects:

  1. Do politicians who were exposed during childhood and adolescence to a pro-democracy movement—the 1979 Kaohsiung (Formosa) Incident—subsequently support democracy more strongly? (coauthored)
  2. How are language-of-instruction policies in primary education across Sub-Saharan Africa shaped by ethnolinguistic composition, and how do these choices relate to learning outcomes?
