Legal and political institutions in the sphere of social norms: Economic analyses of colonization and the right of a married couple to use separate surnames(2022_3_40_001)

Outline

This research project will investigate the economic effects of legal and political institutions in terms of cultural and social norms. Specifically, it will address the following two topics. 1. Long-term socioeconomic impacts of colonization: Evidence from German Togoland This study aims to empirically explore long-term socioeconomic outcomes in German Togoland, from a "model colony" Perspective. 2. Establishing the right of a married couple to use separate surnames and the impacts on marital formation and dissolution. This study aims to empirically explore the impacts of the right of a married couple to use separate surnames on marital formation and dissolution.
