Outline
This research project analyses the business development of "Sze Hai Tong Banking and Insurance Company Limited" in Singapore, established by the local Teochew community in 1907. It not only aims to elucidate the detailed history of Sze Hai Tong Bank but also to uncover its role from a socio-economical viewpoint in the first of the 20th century.
