Disability and Development in Middle East (2019_2_40_017)
Outline
Heretofore, research into IDE regarding "disability and development" has covered Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Africa. Comparative studies have shined a light on the current situations of people with disabilities, government policies for such, and organizations focusing on the disabled, in these areas. This new study will do the same, but with research focused on the Middle East. In 2018, we held a preliminary study group and read a few books and articles for preliminary research. We came to understand the recent interest and concern regarding women with disabilities around the world, and this newer research will focus on those that are further disadvantaged when compared to women without disabilities, although this group had to endure social inequality and poorer situations than men without disabilities, in this area. In the second year of this research, we will focus on more concrete background information regarding such difficult situations.
