Challenges of Digitalization in Industrial Upgrading: A Case Study of Thailand (2019_2_40_006)

Outline

When it comes to economic development, developing countries have taken advantage of ample low-wage labour. However, they now face competition from less-developed countries. Thus, developing countries need to promote automation and digitalization so as to significantly improve productivity. This study will conduct case studies and a questionnaire survey to investigate corporate-level efforts, policy support, and industry-government-university cooperation for promoting automation and digitalization in Thailand. This study will present the progress and policy challenges of digitalization in Thailand so as to derive policy implications for developing countries to promote digitalization in the private sector.
