Sectoral Diversification in Asia and Africa(2018_1_40_002)

Outline
Economic development involves a sectoral shift away from agriculture and at the same time sectoral diversification. We examine, both theoretically and empirically, the process behind the reallocation and diversification of economic activities. A comprehensive review of the recent studies is followed by a comparison of the empirical patterns of structural change in Asia and Africa. Our goal is to find the relevant research questions and empirical strategy to uncover the general mechanism of sectoral shifts and diversification.
