FY 2016/2017 Research Topic: C-06
Dynamics and Transformation of the Vietnamese Family in the Doi Moi Period

Outline

Vietnam has been promoting modernization and industrialization since the first half of the 1990s. Several researchers have pointed out that the trend toward declining birth rate, weakened family education and decreased socialization function for children has been progressing with the advancement of modernization and industrialization. Our research group will study the family dynamics, their transformation, and the reason and mechanism of the occurrence based on field study and analysis of local materials. We will place particular focus on 1) the relationships between the Vietnamese family and social welfare and 2) the relationships between family members.
