Poverty Alleviation of Women and Children with Disabilities in Developing Countries

Outline

Women and children with disabilities are the target of this research project. We will analyze the correlation between their disabilities and poverty through the use of quantitative data. Most of the past research on these people has been qualitative, and the situation of the serious poor and the relative disparity to their non-disabled counterparts has been reported. The examples of the main research questions are as follows. 1) Is the difference between women with disabilities and men with disabilities the same as that between women without disabilities and men without disabilities? 2) Do households including children with a disability have more extreme poverty than those not including children with a disability? This research will try to give the evidences to support these analyses. This research can be positioned as an empirical study of the social model of disabilities.
