Fuel flexibility and efficiency
Competition in the leisure industry is already tough, but the cruise sector also faces unpredictable challenges from evolving environmental regulations and uncertainty of future markets for alternative green fuels. Emissions regulations are becoming ever more stringent, and there is additional pressure from passengers and ports demanding more ecologically responsible tourism. Fuel is the key because profitable operation depends on both, managing fuel costs and reducing emissions. Our modern engines for cruise ships, like the 49/60 and the 32/44 types, have been designed from the beginning of their conception as platforms offering an easy path to conversion for operation on fuels other than LNG or MGO, such as green methanol.
Their new generation, fully electronic common rail injection technology CR2.2 in combination with Everllence ECOMAP (former MAN ECOMAP) feature leads to significant optimization of fuel consumption and reduction of smoke emissions, while the resulting low noise and vibration behavior contribute to high levels of passenger comfort.
Engine technology for cruise ships
Cruise ship fuel efficiency depends on advanced technologies, such as Everllence’s proprietary next-generation common rail system CR2.2 which, in combination with our SCR and ECOMAP technology, opens the door to unmatched opportunities for operating cost savings. 32/44 (former MAN 32/44) and 49/60 (former MAN 49/60) types are efficient and adaptable engines designed as platforms facilitating easy conversion for operation on alternative fuels, thus enabling to match the upcoming needs of future eco-friendly cruise ships.
Top engines for your cruise ships
The 49/60 (former MAN 49/60) is at the core of Everllence's new future-proof 49/60 engine family with lowest emissions incorporating the latest generation of the Everllence common rail injection system technology CR2.2. Being a methanol-ready engine, it can be upgraded at a later stage to full methanol operation.
