India sped up the rollout of telecom infrastructure by digitizing permit approvals and improving coordination between authorities, cutting delays that had held back network expansion.

Building new telecom cables and towers in India used to be slow and complicated because companies needed many separate approvals to use public land and roads, known as Right of Way permissions. To solve this problem, the government launched a national online system to manage these approvals in one place. The platform replaced slow, paper-based procedures and improved coordination between central and state authorities. It made it faster and easier for telecom companies to apply, track progress, and complete projects, reducing delays and costs. This reform has streamlined how infrastructure is built, helping expand mobile and broadband networks across the country and supporting India’s growing digital economy.
