Takeya ADACHI, M.D., Ph.D. is an Associate Professor, Department of Dermatology, Saitama Medical Center, Saitama Medical University/an Advisor of Allergy Center, Keio University Hospital/a Research Associate Professor of Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. He is the current president/founder of the NPO Cheiron Initiative; the former president/advisor of the NPO United Japanese-researchers Around-the-world (UJA); a Japanese Dermatological Association Board Certified Dermatologist; a Japanese Society of Allergology Board Certified Allergologist; a Designated Physician for Rare/Intractable Diseases; and has received a certificate in Health Technology Assessment Expert Program from the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Public Health.

Dr. Adachi received his M.D. from Keio University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan, and completed his PhD, at Keio University Graduate School of Medicine in 2016, focusing on the novel immunological insights into skin T cell homeostasis and lymphoma (Adachi et al.: Nat. Med. 2015). His research interests span dermatology, immunology, allergy, and rare and intractable drug hypersensitivities. Since 2020, he has significantly contributed to international collaborative research with the Immunologie, Immunopathologie et Chimie Thérapeutique, CNRS UPR3572, Institut de Biologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire (IBMC), Université de Strasbourg, France, as its former Professeur invité.

Drawing upon his diverse experience as a visiting scientist officer at the Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP), Program Officer at Japan's governmental R&D funding agency, AMED (Adachi et al.: EJHG 2017, OJRD 2018, Springer-Nature White Paper 2019), and member of the Interdisciplinary Scientific Committee member of the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC), Dr. Adachi currently leads the ENGAGE Task Force. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan, aims to implement a comprehensive national research strategy toward 2030 in allergy and immunology (Adachi et al.: Allergol Int 2020, Allergy 2022, WAOJ 2025).

Dr. Adachi's ongoing efforts pioneer the integration of advanced technologies and Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) (Adachi, et al. Allergy 2025) in the field of allergy research. He is advancing the developement of digital biomarkers and the digital augmentation of the five senses—such as tactile quantification using robotics and AI—which has let to multiple patent applications (Okata-Karigane, et al. Allergy 2025). Furthermore, dedicated to the social implementation of PPIE, he notably serves as the Executive Committee Chair for the PPIE Promotion Symposium at the Science Summit during the 80th and 81st United Nations General Assembly. He continues to advocate for science without borders to foster a society where individuals enjoy prolonged, healthy lives, seamlessly integrating clinical practice, interdisciplinary research, and social engagement.
