Jinqiang Chen is an experienced climate expert at ADB, processing both sovereign and private sector projects with a keen focus on integrating climate change and disaster risk considerations into project design. His broad expertise spans various departments, including the Office of Risk Management, and covers sectors such as water and urban development, energy, agriculture, and disaster risk management. Prior to ADB, Jinqiang worked at the World Bank, where he specialized in the economics in climate change and disaster risk management. He also served as the Giorgio Ruffolo Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Energy Technology Innovation Policy at Harvard Kennedy School. Jinqiang earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering from the California Institute of Technology, with a specialization in the evolution of monsoon precipitation, and holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from both Harbin Institute of Technology and Politecnico di Torino. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and is certified as both a Sustainability and Climate Risk and an Energy Risk Professional by GARP.
