James Lang

Senior Gender Specialist (Gender-based Violence), Gender Equality Division, ADB

James Lang provides leadership for preventing gender-based violence across ADB operations and knowledge work. James has over 25 years of experience promoting gender equality and preventing gender-based violence through policy and programming with international organizations and the UN System, primarily in Asia and the Pacific. Before joining the ADB, James served as a UNDP Regional Gender Advisor for Asia and the Pacific, on the leadership board of the Sexual Violence Research Initiative, as a Senior Visiting Scholar for the UN University and as a founding member of the Prevention Collaborative, an international NGO. James designed and led Partners for Prevention, a joint UN initiative focused on research, learning and advocacy for GBV prevention in Asia and the Pacific. James has also worked for Futures without Violence and Oxfam GB.
