Introduction

The Postal Museum was initially opened in 1938 under the name, "Communications Museum," to commemorate the beginning of modern postal service in Korea in 1884. Later, in 1985, its name was changed to "Postal Museum," and the exhibition hall was established within the Central Office of Korea Post in Seoul. Then, during the reconstruction of the central office, the exhibition operations were transferred to the Knowledge Economy Officer Training Center in Cheonan.
The Postal Museum, a 1,256m2 exhibition hall established within the center, displays some 540 general historical documents including the bound book on the clerical work of the post office of Joseon and Munwi stamp, the first stamp of Korea. Visitors can check out about 7,000 stamps from around the world using the stamp search kiosk.
