• Have students select a theme, preferably from their own experience.
• Develop this theme with:

  photographic essays

  movies

  recorded interviews

  artwork.

• Organize and categorize the pictorial/graphic material.
• Have students select the best and most appropriate material to illustrate the them.
• Integrate it all into a video production or programmed slide show.

Variations

• Set a pictorial essay to music.
• Transcribe books:

  enroll students in book clubs, so they all receive the same books

  have a student transcribe books with illustrations onto videocassette (use book illustrations or make illustrations)

  air the show on television. Everyone with the book can follow along

  keep a library of completed tapes.

• Use plays, newspapers, and magazines.
• Dramatize student stories.
• Build a learning center around the tape library.
• Use animation.
• Use program to advertise, recruit personnel, etc.
