Career Opportunities

The Candidate Profile allows you to share information about your candidacy with Human Resources and use the same profile to apply to various positions.

To create your profile: 

1. Go to the Laurier careers portal.
2. In the job posting, select Apply Now.
3. Select Create an account.
4. Upload your resume. The fields will auto-populate based on your resume details.
5. Update, remove or add to the fields as you wish.

Tips:

• Create your Candidate Profile using your legal name as it appears on your identification. There is a field to provide your preferred first name.
• Upload your resume before you make changes to the employment history in your Profile to make the process quicker. Be sure to review all the fields to ensure the system pulled data from your resume correctly. For resume tips, see our Resume and Interview tips resource.
• Create only one Candidate Profile. If you cannot remember your password, select “Forgot your password?” from the sign-in page to reset it.
• Use a personal email to create the Candidate Profile. If you use a work email and leave that position, you cannot retrieve a forgotten password and will lose access to your profile.
• You can change your contact email address for notifications at any time. Changing your notification email does not change your login email (your login email will never change).
• Current Laurier employees: If you are looking to apply to an internal job posting, use the internal Careers portal. When applying to an external job posting, create an external Candidate Profile to submit the application.

If you are interested in applying for a position, a separate application is created for each position using the same Candidate Profile to start the application.

Before you apply for a position, you must create your Candidate Profile.

To apply for a specific job:

1. Click Apply Now on the specific job posting page.
2. Sign in to your profile.
3. Upload a specific resume and cover letter to the job application in the “My Documents” section.
4. Any additional documents requested in the job posting can be attached in the “Additional Documents” section within the “My Documents” tab.
5. Ensure that your information is correct in all of the application sections.
6. Complete the “Job-specific Information” section of your application.
7. You can save your application and return to complete it later, but remember to submit it once you are done.
8. You can sign in to your profile at any time to see the progress of your application in the “Jobs Applied” section.

Job Alerts

To set up job alerts so you receive emails when a new job matching your keyword is posted: 

1. Sign in to your Candidate Profile.
2. Click Options. 
3. Select Job Alerts from the drop-down menu.
4. Click Create New Job Alert.
5. Enter the keyword(s) for your alert in the Search by Keyword field – e.g. 'marketing' 'communications.
6. Select Preview Alert. This will allow you to preview the alert to view the types of jobs you will be notified for. You can modify your keyword(s) as needed.
   
   • If no results appear, it may be because there are no current jobs that match your keyword(s).
7. Enter how often you want to be alerted (e.g. number of days).
8. Select Create Alert. You will receive an email when a new job matching your keyword is posted.

To delete job alerts:

1. Sign in to your Candidate Profile.
2. Select Options.
3. Select Job Alerts from the drop-down menu.
4. Select the job alert you want to delete.
5. Click the trash can icon under the Actions column.

Notification Process

Our Talent Acquisition team in partnership with hiring managers review applicants for each position and reach out to those who appear to match the requirements of the position. Only applicants who are invited for an interview or assessment will be contacted.

Your information will go into our applicant database, which means you can be contacted for other opportunities at Laurier.

Withdrawing Application

If you change your mind about a specific opportunitiy, you can withdraw your application at any time. 

If you are selected for an assessment, you will be contacted by our Talent Acquisition team to schedule an interview and/or testing.

Tips:

• Note the place and time of the interview or assessment.
• Request accommodation for disability, if required.

Notification Process

Your Talent Acquisition representative will help you understand the timeline for the position you’ve applied. Typically, individuals hear back with a status update within a week of the interview.

Rescheduling Interviews

If you can no longer make your interview, to reschedule: 

1. Log in to the Career Portal.
2. Under My Interviews, select Reschedule and select a new time, if available.

If there are no times available to select, email your HR representative or talent@wlu.ca. 

If you are selected as the successful candidate, an offer letter may still be conditional on:

• reference checks
• driver’s licence check
• educational verification
• police reference check

If you receive an offer letter, review the written offer letter in detail and ask questions before accepting and signing.

Once your offer letter has been signed and returned and the conditions of your offer have been met, you will be enrolled in our onboarding system to prepare for your new position.

Onboarding paperwork must be completed within 48 hours. Welcome to Laurier!
