Laurier Strategic Action Plan

The Laurier Strategic Action Plan highlights four Focus Areas, supported by two Foundations for Success, to align the work of the university’s departments on shared objectives and goals. It is a focused task list built on the mission and vision set in the Laurier Strategy.

Values, Vision and Mission

Laurier is devoted to excellence in learning, research, scholarship and creativity. We foster a culture that inspires lives of leadership and purpose.

We fulfil our mission by advancing knowledge, supporting and enhancing high-quality undergraduate, graduate and professional education, and emphasizing co-curricular development of the whole student.

Related Strategic Initiatives

Several major initiatives and supporting strategies advance the university's mission, long-term vision and guiding principles.

These strategic activities, which build and strengthen collaborative research and the educational experience, work to enhance the lives of Laurier's community members — including its students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Indigeneity

Wilfrid Laurier University is a thriving academic community where Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) and Indigeneity are part of our core values as a learning institution. We recognize that teaching and learning, and the creation and dissemination of new knowledge, must take place in an institution that recognizes the dignity and value of each and every one of its students, staff and faculty members.

Sustainability

Laurier strives to be a university that integrates sustainability practices into all areas of the institution. We aim to inspire, educate and equip students, faculty and staff to engage others in the same practices.

Accessibility

Laurier is committed to providing barrier-free environments and services that enable all people to fully participate in every aspect of day-to-day life on our campuses.

Freedom of Expression

Laurier is strongly committed to upholding free speech and free expression on its campuses. Our commitment is reflected in our founding documents and policies, and has been further articulated in our Statement on Freedom of Expression.
