About the Special Constable Service

These statements of mission, values and philosophy are communicated to all employees at the time of hire, and throughout employment as needed.

Mission

The Special Constable Service (SCS) is committed to the prevention of crime; education; service; encouraging partnerships; and the protection of rights which will enhance the quality of life for students, faculty, staff and visitors. The Special Constable Service subscribes to the Community Policing Model and is committed to promoting values that serve a diverse population and its needs.

Values

The SCS promotes and upholds the following values:

  • Diversity.

Philosophy

The SCS promotes a working relationship with students, staff, faculty, and the Waterloo, Brantford, Kitchener and Toronto communities that encourage prevention, education, partnerships and participation supported by opportunities to achieve high levels of personal and organizational performance.

The SCS delivers law enforcement services in cooperation with our university, students, staff, faculty and communities that recognize the diverse needs of our community and that uphold the partnerships and excellence in all that we do.

The SCS service is student-, staff-, and faculty-oriented, and is focused on providing excellent service, being educational, efficient and respectful of others, and being innovative in our delivery and program.
