Science Council of Japan, the 26th Term

MITSUISHI Mamoru has been serving as the President of the Science Council of Japan since October 2023. He is a Vice-President of the National Institution for Academic and Quality Enhancement of Higher Education and an Emeritus Professor of the University of Tokyo from 2022. He received his Doctor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo in 1986. He served as an Executive Director and Vice President of the University of Tokyo from 2017 to 2021.
He is a member of various internationally renowned societies including the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP), where he was the President from 2019 to 2021. His areas of expertise are biomedical robotics, in particular computer-integrated surgical support systems and biomanufacturing, sensor-integrated intelligent manufacturing systems.
