The Secret Altar is the last room of Area Four of Luigi's Mansion and its remake, and the final room of the game, where the game's final boss, King Boo, resides. It can be unlocked with the spade key obtained from The Artist's Studio.

The Secret Altar has three chandeliers, one of which has a Blue Stone. A stone lion's head is on the west wall, and behind it is the Bottom of the Well, which is where Luigi first sees the room. On the east wall is a mirror flanked by two torches burning with incense. If Luigi vacuums the flames, one torch gives him money, and one torch gives him a gold bar. Two similar torches are found at the rear of the room on either side of Mario's painting. These and the two chandeliers near King Boo can be vacuumed, but they do not yield anything.

If the player looks at the Secret Altar from the Bottom of the Well a second time onward, a shorter version of the cutscene without dialogue plays. During the blackout, doing this causes the lights to erroneously go from off to on and with King Boo absent.

Notes[edit ]

  • The hallway to the altar appears straight on the map, but it actually zig-zags in game.
  • In the original GameCube version, the Secret Altar is the only room that visibly cannot be seen colored on the map when completed, as the game concludes after it's completed. In the Nintendo 3DS remake, it can briefly be seen colored in on the bottom screen's map.
  • If the first-person mode on the Game Boy Horror is used in the Bottom of the Well to scan the mirror, it will warp Luigi to the Foyer as usual, but with a couple of minor visual and audio glitches occurring.
