The Scissors are a Thing in Paper Mario: Sticker Star . They are found within Warm Fuzzy Plains by two different means. Once collected, they usually remain in Mario's Album until they are transformed into a Sticker at a Sling-a-Thing station. Once they have been used as a sticker, they return to their usual position. They can also be purchased from the Shady Toad for 90 Coins.

Unlike the other Things, the Scissors are first retrieved in their sticker form. As Mario is crossing the bridge in Warm Fuzzy Plains, a Toad runs into him. Panicked over Bowser Jr. chasing after his rare sticker, the Toad gives it to Mario, allowing him to pick it up. Kersti identifies it as an incredibly rare sticker, of a variety she has never seen before. Nevertheless, they decide to take it with them. Almost immediately after this incident, Bowser Jr. appears and quickly senses the sticker in Mario's possession, demanding he hand it over. Mario is required to use the Scissors in the following battle, as they are the only sticker currently in his Album able to inflict enough damage on the first turn to knock him out. If Mario tries to use anything else, Bowser Jr. either nullifies it or fully recovers his HP. As the battle progresses, he hints toward using it.

The Scissors are found later in a cave near the end of the level. When picking it up for the first time, Kersti again tells Mario she does not recognize it, though they do hold onto it as a souvenir.

The Scissors are a medium-sized sticker, taking up ×ばつ1.5 squares in Mario's album. If and when they are used in battle, three appear in the corner of the battlefield. They zoom across, eventually cutting up the screen along with the enemies. The player may press A Button repeatedly as the Scissors are cutting to improve the effects.

The Scissors can also be placed into the Sticker Museum as #3 as a cut-based Thing, alongside the Sewing Scissors, Hair Shears, and Tailor Shears. Its museum description praises its durability, stating it will revolutionize the Toad construction industry.

During the fight with Megasparkle Goomba, the Scissors become very effective after the individual Goombas that make up Megasparkle Goomba are revealed. If Mario does not use the Scissors during the boss, Kersti questions if a more effective sticker could have been used.

Later on, the Scissors are used to cut the rope attaching the boat in Surfshine Harbor to the dock.

The Scissors, along with the other scissors-type Things, are effective against the Whomp in the second stage of battling Bowser in Bowser's Sky Castle.

Pre-release and unused content reveals previous ideas for a red Scissors sticker, as well as cyan Scissors in action.
