Nemos,[1] also named Nautilus,[2] [3] [4] are enemies in Donkey Kong Land . They are underwater enemies appearing in only one level—the Kremlantis level Nautilus Chase. Similarly to Croctopuses, Nemos chase Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong, except they do not follow a linear path, but rather in whichever direction the Kong is swimming. A Nemo appears dormant at first, but when the player character swims past the Nemo, it emerges from its shell and travels after the Kong in quick darting motions. Like with most enemies, a Nemos damages the Kong on contact. Like the game's other aquatic enemies, Nemos cannot be defeated. The Nemo eventually stops chasing the player character before moving into a corner within the coral.

Naming[edit ]

Nemos' name is taken from Captain Nemo, who pilots the submarine called the Nautilus in the science fiction novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea , likely in reference to the enemy itself being a nautilus.
