Excessive Length[edit ]

Now reaching 31 KB in size, MarioWiki:Userboxes has been suggested by the software to break up into smaller sections, similar to Wikipedia's format. How should be break up this page? W ayoshi ( T ·C ·@ ) 17:10, 9 August 2006 (EDT)

Wait, I think I get it from seeing Template:Userbox. The stuff between {{{ and }}} is replaced by the lines separated by |s in the template...very useful feature, better than the categories/templates that have just been deleted (00:06, 5 August 2006 (EDT)). Templating[edit ]

User Created[edit ]

Ultimately, most of the userboxes will be created by wiki users. We should have a huge list of them in time. So why not just categorize them with the others instead of throwing them all in one section? --Steve (talk ) 23:53, 6 August 2006 (EDT)

This is my new idea of a new userbox. I recently got this book that says if you practice Confucianism, then you will be invincible. If Bowser wants to take over the Mushroom Kingdom, then maybe he should adopt Confucianism.

The admins agreed that they were a waste of space that did little with the Wiki and only encouraged users to edit their userspace more. The userboxes are now only Wiki-related (except for the basic ones at the bottom). Fawful fury 65

HEY! What happened to all the past userbox images!?! We can keep the old userboxes but without the (previous) userbox images, the (previous) userbox images are not as fun as they used to be! Moses suposes Video Boo His toeses are roses Eeheeheehee...

They wanted to keep only the example boxes as a starting point. I think they said that the previous way encouraged excessive mainpage edits and excessive length to the article. The userbox images were all deleted because none of them linked to MarioWiki:Userbox, which is a requirement for them. Everyone was given about a week to mark any that they wanted as PIs. Fawful fury 65

Sorry but the 2011 April's Fools proposal has a point [edit ]

I know userboxes are kind of a late 2000s-2010s practice that faded a lot in time (I personally like these) but this page is in desperate need for more fun examples; the current userboxes in "Other" kind of... suck? No offense? It's not good when I have to scour other people's pages for ideas and honestly not everyone has the patience or hex color sense to put together a userbox. Like I mean can we have some premade boxes of favorite major Mario characters and video games for starters? I agree that there's a lack of interest toward those nowadays. I know I'm unwilling to put tons of arbitrary colorful boxes on my user page. Not a productive use of time, in my opinion. There's other ways that users can express themselves and their favorites on user pages, be it bullet lists, prose, and so forth.
